County Durham LINk and organisations or groups

Many community organisations and groups within County Durham would like to be able to better influence health or social care services. County Durham LINk will provide more ways for organisations and groups to become involved.

As well as becoming a County Durham LINk member, you could also express your views through other mechanisms - such as the internet, focus groups and events.

Why should organisations and groups become involved?

County Durham LINk will provide opportunities for organisations and groups across our community to work together to make a difference. However, in order for the LINk to reach its potential and provide an effective voice for the people of County Durham, it needs the expertise of local organisations, groups and campaigners who use or represent those who use health and care services.

Which groups and organisations does the LINk want to work with?

County Durham LINk wants to work with the widest range of groups and organisations as is possible in order to be truly representative of communities. The types of organisations and groups we are particularly keen to involve are:

  • local voluntary and community sector organisations and Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS)
  • self-advocacy groups
  • local support groups
  • black and minority ethnic groups
  • faith groups
  • youth groups
  • social care and health user groups ie, carer groups, mental health groups, older people groups, disability groups etc
  • community empowerment networks
  • homeless networks
  • gay and lesbian networks
  • schools and young people's groups
  • neighbourhood forums and resident associations
  • local representatives from national charities
